Cache Valley Metric..
I know it should be called the Cache Valley Century 100 mile bike ride. This year I joined Mike in the adventure and decided to do 60 miles ( the metric ) and then he would venture on and do the 100 miles (Cache Valley Century). He was a good sport and stayed with me, he is a lot stronger and could have gone alot faster than I. It started out pretty good, feeling pretty good got the first 20 miles to Preston overwith. Got the hill out of Preston up to Dayton overwith turn south to go Dayton and got hit with the wind. It wasn't too bad all the way up to Trenton on the west side highway. Just out of Trenton, we are hit with the wind, I mean being blown backwards by the wind. oh that might be a bit exaggeration, but it was an awful strong hot wind. It was awful!! It took everything I had to keep pedaling, it was the longest five miles ever!! Mike was pedaling as hard as he could in the 25+ mile hour wind and he was going about 12 mph, I was glad to be going 8 mph! If you stopped pedaling it would stop you in your tracks. After that we only had about 15 miles left in the journey and Mike decided to not do the 100 miles due to the wind. We hit the rest stop in Amalga and I was so tired, seriously. I didn't think I had it in me to finish, but I did. It was a long few miles from Trenton back to Richmond. I had to keep stopping to give me legs a break. Good thing I had Mike with me to keep me going, that 60 miles felt like a 100. I think Mike got a workout out in, but it wasn't as hard on him as me. BUT we made it !!
