carving the Jack O lanterns...
The final product - our Jack O Lanterns... Bode has a silly face and Rylie's is a happy face! She picked them out of a new Halloween book she got from Grandpa and Grandma Smith.
We had dinner in a pumpkin tonight ( well soup in a pumpkin bowl). I think we might try a real dinner in a pumpkin later this week.

Pumpkin Walk
recipe
The popcorn was a hit, I had two out the three ladies I took it too request the recipe. :) I don't make any promises that it will work out for you. I am not sure if it was a fluke or if there is a easier way.... I took some to my mom because she wasn't sure what to think about my easier way. The carmel is a little runnier and stickier... SO here is her recipe (with my shortcut added).
2 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup of Karo Syrup
1 1/2 cups butter
Bring to a soft ball stage. Then remove from heat and add a can of sweetened condensed milk. (When I read the recipe I thought it meant a soft boil, not ball. I combined all the ingrediants and brought them to a soft boil. I had to call a friend and I thought it would continue at a soft boil, but when I turned around it was boiling pretty good.) I removed it from the heat and stirred in the milk.
Pour over two big bowls of popcorn and ENJOY!
Happy Halloween Popcorn.
If you try it out, let mek now if works or not.

carmel popcorn...
This is a pretty funny story! At least I got a big kick out of it. My sister and I made this recipe book of all of our family favorite recipes. In there is my mom's Carmel popcorn recipe and it is awesome. She makes it every Halloween time for us and we gobble it up. I got ambitious to make it today to take the ladies I go visiting teaching too. Well, the recipe says to bring the ingredients to a soft boil and add sweeten condensed milk. Do any of you know what that means???? Well I thought it meant like a soft rolling boil and then add the milk. I guess when you are doing a candy recipe like carmel - the soft boil means stir and cook it for like an hour until it becomes a soft ball like thing when you drop it into cold water. I have never made candy or anything before and well the carmel popcorn turned out awesome. I am coming up with a new recipe for making carmel popcorn. It seriously turned out awesome, in fact one of the ladies text me and said she was in love with my popcorn.. It really turned out and I am not sure how since I stirred for like five minutes and my mom stirs for an hour. CRAZY and delicious!!

time of year...
I have to say I really don't know how to bottle, yet. I still get my mom to help me out, I haven 't been brave enough to try it on my own. I love this time of year when all the produce is ready, the bottles look awesome on my shelf, it nice to have some type of food storage, but most of all, I get to spend time with my mom.
